You can pick up a new Garmin Forerunner 55 watch for about £120, it's one of their entry level models but will do pretty much everything you need, the GPS syncs okay and there's no need to take your phone out on a run as the run data can be transferred to your Garmin App when you get back.
The only thing missing on this model is a metronome to help you keep your cadence but it will give you your average when you are finished, in my case the average was 158spm which is a bit low but I was struggling a bit tbh after sitting on my arse stuffing my face and drinking chemical laced lager over Christmas so the uphill sections had me blowing a bit.
Once you get a watch you start getting pissed off if you can't cross a busy road as you're conscious of the timer still ticking while you wait for a gap in the traffic.
