I'd guess so. They're not just keeping track of word frequency etc for your convenience. They're definitely getting something else out of it.

On my phone I can check and change my keyboard app via Settings / Additional Settings / Keyboard & input method / current keyboard.

Unfortunately I can't offer a more privacy conscious alternative, at least not one with my required features (multilingual, swipe writing, emoji, gif search, etc)

Tho would jump on one asap if there's an alternative.
