Btw, mercenaries sign a civil contract with financial rewards and penalties, whereas soldiers swear an oath to serve and face criminal prosecution and prison for breeches while getting paid shit wages.
None of these people are getting paid as mercenaries. They're getting the same shit pay that soldiers always get.

I remember reading accounts from the Viet Cong about Australian soldiers. They feared us more than the US, as we fought like they did, quietly, in small groups, ambushes and the like. The Americans they heard and smelled coming, so they could avoid or ambush.
Totally agree. I'm not at all for it, as an anarchist, but a model similar to Switzerland or Finland etc would work for us as a country with a low population. But we'd still need to fight to our strengths and talents, as you've mentioned.
