Roman Storm has been found guilty of the conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmission business charge.

Here are my thoughts on the outcome, the government’s (rejected) motion to remand Storm, and what comes next.

Too early to tell. For now, I’d pay attention to whether or not the language from the BRCA re: developers and purveyors of non-controlling (noncustodial) not being money transmitters gets included in the CLARITY Act and if the act is enacted into law.

I think the bottom line with this though in general is that we need more nodes and more developers building on lightning to make it impossible to persecute regardless of the legal wrangling.
