Later package inserts got updated safety data once they learned about further risks for specific populations.

I don’t agree with forcing anything on anyone. I’m simply pointing out that the studies are double blind placebo whereas the evidence for harm comes from retrospective analysis of alleged harm.

Why would they run separate trials for safety and efficacy when the same trial can test both? A vaccine that is effective at preventing a disease by rendering the patient dead is of no use. Likewise an injection of something that is completely safe but offers no protection from a disease is a waste of time. Testing for safety and effectiveness is how vaccine studies are designed.

Now there are always ethical questions with any double blind placebo test. A child injected with a dangerous vaccine dies and everyone loses their mind…likewise the placebo child dies of polio but the neighbors kid gets the safe effective test and lives. Sometimes to advance you have to make some hard choices.

This is inaccurate. The Pfizer Covid vaccines underwent a fairly large double blind placebo controlled trial. The original polio vaccine was a massive trial where the control group got saline and got sick/died and the vaccinated group did not.

The irony of this comment is that the studies of vaccine injury are always retrospectives. There are no double blind placebo controlled studies that the antivaxers can use to prove injury or lack of effectiveness or secret 5g brain control or whatever.

The issue of course is that you cannot stop arbitrary data and op_return was put in place to provide a printable place to put arbitrary data vs having it pollute the utxo set. Locking down the system to remove all vectors of injecting data would remove nearly all functionality of Bitcoin beyond the most basic uses and doom the scalability of the system. It will be freedom money for the few and relegate it to the same fate of the gold standard if it even makes it that far.

Your book is on my list(takes me awhile to get to non audio books these days unfortunately) I think the moral arguments that favor bitcoin as an anti slavery technology vs the fiat system is a very powerful one. It is inherently beyond politics which is important in the current climate. The rise of the Bitcoin philosophers is a development that I have been happy to see.

Sorry may have got my end times nuttery mixed up, it’s been a minutes since I was in those texts. Newton “calculated” 2060, in his 1733 “Observations Upon the Prophesies of Daniel” so we still have time to get right with god.

My #bitcoin journey began embarrassingly a long time ago. As a very online person and somewhat advanced in years, I was a lurker on the early Bitcoin talk forum. I was at the time fairly non technical. I tried to get mining to work but as I had just figure out how to install Linux it was beyond me. I promptly ignore it for a couple more years. During this time I felt the cognitive dissonance of the idea of bitcoin and my reality the entire time. I was actively a bit upset that Bitcoin existed, it’s hard to explain but I was weirdly angry.

In about 2013 or 14 I got interested again and was a regular on the Bitcoin subreddit. The only smart thing I did during that time was to take a 0.1467 bitcoin tip I received and send it to cold storage. It was the only tip I managed to save from that period and it’s pretty insane when I think about the wealth I left on that account. Every other action I took during that period resulted in less bitcoin today.

I made countless other mistakes with trading, key management, exchange hacks, and eventually shitcoin buying. But since I still have the private keys to that Reddit tip I stashed away I’m not a complete idiot.

I have since transitioned my entire world view to a bitcoin standard. Sadly it took me far too long. I am playing catch up.

Now I DCA weekly via strike and am building my self custody stash. When I exit the fiat system entirely I hope it’s because I am spending my days pushing Bitcoin forward in a meaningful way.

Feature bloat is not how you make an unstoppable financial base layer. This all smells like sour grapes.
