And about the process in general / my conception of the maze-making as art. The actually making of the maze part of the art is super organic / emergent and always brings out things different from or well beyond whatever I had consciously started with. For instance the idea of the color change effect came from what I originally regarded as a mistake.

I feel that way sometimes with my mixed media art … that the process (including what initially seems like a mistake) reveals things I hadn’t thought of that end up being wonderful.

Nancy Hillis calls it the Adjacent Possible: that you wouldn’t have gotten to that particular end if not for the ‘mistakes’ that happened along the way … and to be open to that. 🫂
