I didn't really use the term until I discovered Bitcoin. It doesn't really hold much meaning unless a currency exists that isn't fiat. Since adding it to my vocab, I've enjoyed seeing it used in MSM. I've enjoyed watching the Overton window shift.
A major problem Normies have with bitcoin is that it's value isn't determined by an authority. They see it as something speculative & risky because it's value changes. They don't realise their local currency fluctuates in value against other currencies because they only measure value in their local currency. Unless you import goods/labour from overseas, you do not seem directly exposed to the risks of your local currency.
Another video snippet might be around the subjective & relative nature of value. How much is a dollar actually worth? How is bitcoin's value determined? Why do people use bitcoin to store value or accept it as payment for goods/services?
I like that you're focusing on the basics. π«π
