# Don't Feed the Trolls

My posts are meant to make people think and act as discussion starters. So yes, they are provocative. I fancy myself somewhat of a conversational provocateur.

**BUT**

Occasionally, I catch a troll.

Trolls are identifiable by looking for a few discernible traits.

1. They claim to understand the subject matter better than you but are unwilling to share that knowledge.

2. Instead, they engage primarily in ad hominem and other fallacies.

3. Like those men that stare at goats, they make claims on your motives as if they know you.

4. Their tone is irrationally angry. Like you hurt their feelings somehow, or killed their dog. You cannot rationalize with the butt hurt.

5. Trying to engage with such posts merely returns more of the same.

## Don't Feed the Trolls

Send a biting meme and move on with your life. It's too short to tolerate their ilk. If necessary, go ahead and block them. Better still, block them if they are trolling someone else.

When it fails to keep your attention it moves on to bother someone else. Unless of course they are a professional whore working for "Homeland Security"

But normal hobby trolls get bored over time and move on.
