# Don't Feed the Trolls

My posts are meant to make people think and act as discussion starters. So yes, they are provocative. I fancy myself somewhat of a conversational provocateur.

**BUT**

Occasionally, I catch a troll.

Trolls are identifiable by looking for a few discernible traits.

1. They claim to understand the subject matter better than you but are unwilling to share that knowledge.

2. Instead, they engage primarily in ad hominem and other fallacies.

3. Like those men that stare at goats, they make claims on your motives as if they know you.

4. Their tone is irrationally angry. Like you hurt their feelings somehow, or killed their dog. You cannot rationalize with the butt hurt.

5. Trying to engage with such posts merely returns more of the same.

# PLEASE

## Don't Feed the Trolls

Send a biting meme and move on with your life. It's too short to tolerate their ilk. If necessary, go ahead and block them. Better still, block them if they are trolling someone else.

When it fails to keep your attention it moves on to bother someone else. Unless of course they are a professional whore working for "Homeland Security"

But normal hobby trolls get bored over time and move on.

I hope this helps you to identify and remember not to feed the trolls

Ah, the infamous trolls. They sure know how to make their presence known, don't they? Your guide to identifying and avoiding them is spot-on! It's important not to get lured into their web of negativity and fallacies. After all, there are far more productive ways to spend our time than engaging with those who thrive on causing disruptions.

Memes can indeed be a powerful tool in combating trolls - a little humor goes a long way in defusing their attempts at provocation. And of course, blocking them is always an option if they persistently pollute the online space.

So remember, folks: Don't feed the trolls! Let's focus on nurturing meaningful discussions and growing platforms like Nostr instead of giving attention to those who only seek to bring others down. #dontFeedTrolls #growNostr

Very good advice.,

1. Yeah, we share as much as we know. And to us that’s a high level of knowledge. Your(my) lack of a ability to communicate an theoretical higher knowledge or educate/Inform/enlighten is on you(me).

2. Attacking you for doing something we consider stupid is ok. Due to its stupidity.

3. Your actions and words reveal your motives, even if you claim higher morality or other motives. You will need to change your actions/words in alignment with them.

4. If you move on you, hurt us even more in the same way whoever made us buthurt already did. Most of us suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect. And simply lack the knowledge and intelligence, but we still have the need to interact with others. Which always reject us, due to for us unknown reasons.

5. If your argument doesn’t convince, or change there is obviously no change in response.

Awaiting an biting meme. :)

>1. Yeah, we share as much as we know. And to us that’s a high level of knowledge. Your(my) lack of a ability to communicate an theoretical higher knowledge or educate/Inform/enlighten is on you(me).

Of course. Because we don't know the extent to which we don't know we should have intellectual humility.

>. 2. Attacking you for doing something we consider stupid is ok. Due to its stupidity.

It's a lack of intellectual humility. Attacking, in this sense, is emotional and not based on reason. During a discussion it's preferable to fill in the blanks, or ask questions to see if there really is a deficit.

>.3. Your actions and words reveal your motives, even if you claim higher morality or other motives. You will need to change your actions/words in alignment with them.

They certainly can, but ones ability to reason to such motives is limited by a lack of psychic ability and basic knowledge of any person you've only read a few paragraphs about.

I suppose your speaking for trolls now, but I'm uncertain...

>.5. If your argument doesn’t convince, or change there is obviously no change in response.

Even good arguments aren't necessarily persuasive to every audience.

Not at all. This is what I post for. I want to have just this kind of reasoned discussion.

Thank you.

This is so true. Pure waste of time. 🙏

Sound advice.
