No. They are lit. Get an as recent one as you want to afford.

Disclaimer: I have had several running.

I have an old refurbished DELL Optiplex - works great, quiet enough and fast.

(and now I have my pi zero ;) )

Great mini PC! The Intel NUC or Lenovo equivalent are also excellent options. Don't forget to connect your battery backup in case of a power outage!

Considering this one for my next build - perfect for handling more demanding tasks but maybe overkill if you're just using

it for bitcoin stuff.

start9 maybe?

Got the exact same Dell Optiplex k3tan recommends with 16 GB ram from kleinamzeigen for about 100 € and an extra 2 TB SSD. Works like a charm.

Lenovo thinkcenter mini is a solid option. Or you can get a nitroPC with deactivated intel ME

We are happy to recommend some products. Please DM your contact details for an informative pamphlet.

Cheap second hand Optiplex Micro or similar i3, i5, i7 mini PC is really the bang for your buck.

Intel 6xxx or newer is prefered. 8GB ram, 2TB SSD (we will run over space with 1TB SSD node in a couple of years at most).

Intel NUC i3 with Raspiblitz on Proxmox running fine since last year.

I would go for the "Meerkat" mini computer with 4.5MHz CPU, 64GB memory, and 2TB SSD storage which would cost about $883.00. With this setup, you now have the ability to run 5 to 6 VM instances concurrently. I would also go to SanDisk and purchase one of their 2TB USB drive. This drive will be used for your BTC blockchain and VM backups from your host.

Use Linux. See system76.com. I'm using POP!_OS and happy with it.

Creates VMs on your host. Virtual Box works for me. I have one VM dedicated to Bitcoin Core and Lightning and etc...

Thanks, I'm using POP!_OS as my regular OS and am happy as well. Since I'll only SSH into that machine I'll opt for Debian or Ubuntu I think.

I build my node like you would build a good gaming setup.

- Mini tower

- quiet small power supply

- main board with M.2

- M.2 ssd

- 16GB DDR5 Ram

- Core I3 Processor

All in all I payed around 350€

I would recommend checking out the “Known-Good Hardware

Master List” from the nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll Community Guides.
