I inoculated this garden bed with wine cap mushroom spawn.

No idea who these guys are but they're not wine caps. Black spores under the cap & they're very fragile.

Seems to fit. They're already degrading only an hour later.

Only 20 mins later!

Yeah, it’s surprising how fast they degrade.

Pretty, but I’b be reluctant to eat them 😳

I'm really only confident in identifying oysters & wood ear mushrooms growing wild. I'm still learning & not starving, so playing it safe. 🤣

I'm hoping to see wine caps around March. They're very distinctive & easy to identify.

There's a cubic meter of hardwood chip on the bed so it should be interesting.

Keep us AUStriches updated. Love seeing your myco-farming posts.

I've had so many contaminated blocks & bags of grain. It's so much harder than I expected.

Fruiting is my biggest issue. I don't have the space to have a fruiting tent to control the humidity, air flow & fungus gnats. I'm thinking my best bet is to leverage my outdoor spaces & accept that I can't control nature.

Ask Bill Gates. 🤪

He reckons he can control nature.
