The apocalypse is always a hot seller.
Religious books have been selling out the faith they profess.
Climate change has been moving the goal post throughout the entire history of State sponsored science.
Over population has been popular among fear mongers. They've been pushing that since mythological times.
When are you going to wise up?
Or will you continue to allow yourself to be manipulated?
I'm just thinking about this, this morning.
Apocalyptic thinking has become an article of faith for many these days. The political and economic situation seems untenable but no one can imagine a solution that doesn't involve some sort of collapse.
The only proximate apocalypse I worry about is the over reaction of the mob as it faces fear real or imagined. Mostly because people are irrational. Which is only multiple when the problem is unfalsifiable.
So relax. If a threat is unfalsifiable, look at it's history. How accurate have the prophets of doom been?
It turns out, they've been absolutely wrong.
The biggest threat is the irrational mob, which is why the State trys to control them with such fears.
Yes, we've seen how easy it is to drive them to stampede. An ever present atmosphere of existential terror helps keep people's minds off more immediate concerns as well. It's easier for our rulers to pretend they can control the weather than do anything to offer people a sense of meaning in a completely deracinated culture.
Despite the bad actors, the people in the world are in far better shape than they've ever been.
Brinkmanship is excellent business, not to mention, it manipulates people into fear centeredness instead of love centeredness.
