Do you know why Berlin is one of the few cities with no curfew? πŸ€”

In 1949, with the cold war it's infancy, Berliner Hanz Zellermayer convinced the Allied authorities that closing the bars too early was bad PR for the free world.

Legend has it that Zellermayer brought a bottle of whisky and kept the French and Americans drinking until they agreed that there should be no closing hours.

The British tried to intervene, but to no avail. Berlin's curfew was scrapped forever and the world's greatest night life was born.
