I always thought it was funny when you see someone Repost something you saw earlier because you know their up, online, and just read it.

The reason I repost is that I feel the note is important and worth your consideration. What if I repost a note from 2 weeks ago that has new relevance? How do we know Blockstream is tossing sats?
With this setting, anyone who hasnāt seen it before should still see it. People whoāve already seen it donāt need to see it reposted 12 times. Thatās what this fixes.
This is huge! Iāve had a hard time continuing to use Damus for this reason. I spend so much of my time scrolling past the same reposts. Itās very frustrating.

This is a sign to stop scrolling and #touchgrass
Thatās not a problem I have.
It seems like it is⦠if your whole feed is reposts then your follows are providing less value than doing other stuff, no? Do you tend to scan just ānotesā or ānotes and repliesā? If you want to find more threads from your follows then scanning the second helps.
I do both.
Itās not the quality of my follows or my follow feed. Take Snowdenās speech as an example. I appreciate the person/people who have reposted it today, because I missed it and then watched it. Now, I have to continue to scroll past that same repost from 50-100 other people I follow that repost it. The other people who repost it arenāt doing anything wrong, and they are still high quality follows, but it would be nice to see the post only once. It seems like this is what this feature would do in nostur.
Thatās fair. I canāt say I saw the same magnitude of repost - at least not concentrated enough that it disrupted content. The problem I see is that reposts are a valuable tool in many instances, especially if itās an informative post. A second or third posting isnāt normally a problem and defining a note as āviewedā is likely a really hard software problem. You donāt know what someone did or didnāt read on their phone screen. Maybe there is a less aggressive solution like establishing a setting to put reposts in the replies section and/or grouping them together.
Yes, I see what you mean. They used to be in the replies section. Maybe put the naked reposts in replies and quoted notes in main feed?
Lol yea and there are some people who keep reposting their posts over and over and over. Thereās one in particular Iāve seen probably 20 times. Itās unnecessary. This is a great feature.
be the algorithm you want to see in the world, yo, but not like that š
