you don't.

carry on.

Because you paid for it, or you have WOT cred, and that supposedly means it's the real you. :)

I did pay for it. Does it mean anything to you?

The fact that you post from it and have a reputation for posting from it means something.

It's not hard to hijack though, especially for smaller accounts. It's not perfect—especially in the age of account scraping and AI, but it's the best that #Nostr currently has to offer.

You really don’t! It’s a scam! Unless well it’s like mine and you can actually email me on the nip-05

Otima questão!

it’s not even verification

Easier to find you. People can type it into the search field to find you instead of your npub.

Since the address can only be attached to one npub, in case you had impersonators we could easily recognize the real you.

Some nostr addresses have extra features like zap forwarding address (nostrplebs does this)

It is a method to verify you are the real BitBees and not a pretender. It works best if you set up your own url to be the verifier. Like bitbees@bitbees.com so if someone were to attempt to be you they wouldn’t be able to replicate bitbees@bitbees.com. They would be bitbees unverified or bitbees@somethingslse.com it’s more valuable if you are someone else coming to Nostr and have a web address that is already associated with you. Then you could use the fact that you own famousbitbees.com to validate your bitbees nostr npub.

Human readable, easier for searching. I feel like once key rotation is a thing, it will play a pivotal role.

If you trust the person's domain isn't compromised...which eh, that's a whole other story (Pssst, it's always DNS) they would simply update to their new key and clients would show the old as invalid, and the new as valid.

That is unless your client doesn't differentiate between confirmed nip-05 or people you follow until you click their full profile...then ya know..

Thank you for the deeper dive. It sounds like more pros than cons with it.
