they're trying to use cashapp, the problem is not on the block side, it's getting their bank to agree to send money to CashApp. The problem is getting in to / out of the fiat system.

Gotcha. I agree with you but this is not a bitcoin problem. The issue is obviously with the existing permissioned system

Important to help them see that. bitcoin has not even entered the picture yet.

using cashapp is not using bitcoin.

Disagree. It's good for beginners cause of the auto bitcoin roundups and auto purchase upon direct deposit.

It has rudimentary lightning support etc.

They can move it to non-custodial later

you do not understand the point.

Cashapp use bitcoin. You use cashapp.

Yeah, they got caught up before they even were able to convert cash to bitcoin, their bank wouldn't let them put money in cash app, the next step was buy the bitcoin in cashapp and send it to me. My point isn't to say everything is terrible, just this was my attempt at getting one person, who has no love for the government or banking system, to send me some money via bitcoin, and it proved to be very hard. Using cashapp as the onboarding, and Block does a LOT to make it easy.

The only logical step is to crypto-ify the whole economy or else there will always be a fiat middle man capable of stopping it.

Take that how you will.

Create Crypto friendly fiat institutions, or completely replace them with institutions built on top of open protocols for Crypto.
