Popular culture made me feel that Texans were cool - cowboys, rough & tough, thick headed but gentle at heart, religious, country music, and so on.
/Of course, the history isn't good. Yeah, never been to the US.
Cowboys in moves are cool. Cowboys in real life were often very not cool.
