Was it a typical table height that felt too tall?
Discussion
Ya, the tabletop was basically normal height, but then the extra rim on it made you sit chicken-winged. Sitting on stools was better but made your thighs hit the underneath corner of the table.
Ok, so if the top of the rim was more of a normal height the center was inset to be a little lower, that would might have been good?
I'm short, so all tables are too tall for me... this is really good info 🤣
Right. My advice would be to find the chairs you want first… unless you want to build chairs too. 😆
Then, just make the rim or armrest shorter. The concept of our “bowl” table, was we could set up a board game or miniatures and then put a lid on. In practice it made the table kinda uncomfortable.
*find the chairs first, and then make sure the thigh clearance is good for whoever’s sitting at the table. Sit at various tables with that chair, and figure out where your wrists naturally rest. Make sure knees won’t bump into central supports. Basically just sit in the desired chair, and imagine anything that’s going to annoy 3 hours into a marathon of geekery.
Ok, good to know, thank you! I've always been a coffee table/floor gamer, but I want to make something nice.
