is that one of those garbage disposal things I only know from the TV?
Yeah. They are in every home here and all they do is cause plumbing issues by encouraging people to shove all their food water through their pipes. If you don't use them they rust out, clog, and then your sink is unusable. Worst invention ever.

the double sink with a garbage disposal combo are everywhere.
pulled the whole thing out & put in a nice deep farm sink. gave away the "sink-a-rator".
will be adding the R.O. later, still overthinking that.
