Yup! Maybe give using Wireguard directly a try. You can use this tool to "whitelist" IP addresses so you can still route your LAN traffic.

Yeah, and I keep punishing myself by running my own software which never works. I can't even blame the devs

I nearly never blame anyone but myself since I always complicate things. Lol

Also to be fair. I promise it shouldn't take very long to set up Wireguard on android with proton. I think they even use the QR code mobile method now. After that you just need to set those LAN IP's which you can do whenever you are ready.
