I also grow indoor and out. Consider adding green onions cuz they are super easy both indoor and outside, can grow well with other things, and can even do well once rooted over winter buried in snow. They are bi-annual, so in year 2 you can get seeds.

Next time you bring some home, just pop them in soil instead of the fridge. That's a quick way to begin.

Also, you can snip and eat the green leaves at any time. A new one will grow back within a week. They'll always grow the green to match the size of their roots. Unlike the store, you'll see leaves get 2 feet long when you grow them.
