I thought the lightning address on people's profiles was anonymous. Turns out it's not.

Value for value should be anonymous.

If any pleb is wondering how to connect to their node on the decentralised creation network, this course is for you.

What you mean by anonymous? You thought the ln adress was not visible or that there was no connection between your ln adress and your other personal data?

Anonymous as in - I didn't think Amethyst broadcast tip events where the invoice originated from the receiver's profile page.

Seems #[6] "fixed" it.

IMO it was a feature - it'd be great to have that ability back.

I've been thinking about this bug/feature Vitor.

I sometimes want to be able to anonymously pay an npub. I can see their LNURL address on their profile, but I can't copy that address - I have to type it out in my wallet (luckily it doesn't usually resolve if there's a typo).

If I could long press on their profile address & copy it to my clipboard, it would be really useful for anonymity.

If I donate a decent amount, I don't want the whole of nostr to know.

#[2]

You can send anonymous zaps, it's just not widely implemented by clients yet. Snort has it and Nostros too

I’m 50/50 on these. If zaps are anonymous, they should be anonymous sender and receiver

Anonymous senders and known receiver is a great vector for wash-zapping and gaming the system

Anonymous tipping was how it was before it got integrated into nostr.

Having the tip public on Nostr is useful but also a privacy hindrance in certain circumstances.

Your recieving LN Address is part of your profile. Some LN wallets are capable of paying to that address already. All the detail that's required is the address.

The trouble is getting the address from the profile to the wallet & people (like myself) not really having experience using LNURL addresses.

Often the text address isn't easily copied in a client. Worst case scenario - you type it out and check for typos.
