Derek is a buddy, he knows it matters on some level. Otherwise, why even do a Note/Tweet?

I view posting on Twitter or Nostr the same as I have for the past 20 years. 1) I use social media as my personal blog, talking about various items and topics that I am passionate about. 2) I like to engage and form relationships with people, like yourself 😉

I do get your point though. Twitter's algorithms made it hard for people with less followers to make their content seen and for them it felt like posting into the void. That's why Stackchain was so great, you had an almost guaranteed 50 people that would see your post.

Here, we have no algorithms to hide posts, but we also don't have them to bring post to the top of the feed either. I probably missed so many good posts yesterday while I was out and about as well as over night while sleeping.

For future reference don’t post the post link. Long hold the note ID and put @ in front and it’s like a quote tweet. I had to go through hoops to see that post you link and then i couldn’t even like it afterwards unless i logged onto the extension 🤙🏼

Don’t you think there will be algos in future that you could choose from? Like filters?

Let’s say you missed a few days, you’d choose an algo for aggregating in a way you maybe could even influence?

My understanding is, that this is the beauty of nostr. You decide what to see and what to value with your attention (and zaps ;))

The algos will come at some point. We're already seeing some for relay and friend finding. More will come. Algos are hungry.

We can feed the algos and still enjoy a pure experience by choice, which is the differentiator. Give me that pure nostr global feed right up my nosetr.

One thought I dont like though is that we must prevent that people will be mislead again, meaning that they all jump on the big algos and we have kind of the same mess.

It’s down to clients to curate notes.

Real time follows is my favourite way to use nostr, but I obviously miss a lot of offline things.

Notifications are a bit of a mess, regularly get nuked and struggles to load.

Global/Universe is good for discovery, but you have to scroll deep to find value.

Then we have DM’s with leaky meta.

I would like:

Notifications tab

Real time tab

What happened last 24hrs tab

Global

But I’m not fussy. I like the constant change of development.

Isn’t the beauty of Nostr is that there are no Algo? I see Nostr more like real life conversations. Discussion are live and you do miss out if you are not watching your feed but so is real life.

Algo is what is killing Twitter IMO.

💯💯💯 If we had choices, perhaps a separate feed of top posts and trending posts, that we could switch over to, just like global, that would be ideal. I'm sure in due time we'll have these sorts of things.

Really good points guys! I'm one of those people on twitter where almost nobody reads what I tweet.

What's excited to me is this: Nostr is free speech, Twitter isn't. Now they are aware of that at Twitter headquarters too, so they're moderating less at Twitter. Otherwise more people come to Nostr. So even if not everyone moves from Twitter to Nostr, the existence of Nostr is forcing Twitter to have less censorship. 😀
