Connections > Followers

anyone on here live in YYC?
Feels like LinkedIn
There are only so many terms that fit the bill, I guess đ But âfollowerâ is a limited term, and implies a relationship that doesnât really exist in 99.9999999% of the cases.
I think nostr poses a unique use case where given that there is not just one type of client, there shouldnât be just one type of relationship. There is space in the protocol to have âfriendsâ, âfollowersâ, âconnectionsâ, and many others
It does sound a bit weird hearing npubs say: âmy followersâŚsomething somethingâ
Itâs a term with limited use and meaning. I assume we use it here because Twitter used it, and nostr was made initially as a replacement for Twitter. But there are many reasons to connect with a npub, beyond become a âfollower.â I donât really see myself as a âfollowerâ of anyone on here. I choose to connect and engage with different accounts in various ways depending what/who they are. âConnectionsâ feels more accurate to me.
Connections feels more genuine.
