I was never banned or suspended from bird app. I'm unlikely to be on any centralized platform because I mostly lurk and I don't like to draw attention to myself.

But despite this, the single best thing about Nostr for me is the inability to deplatform users. Being uncensorable is like owning a gun, or having extra food stored, or having confiscation resistant money.

When you don't need it, you don't mind or even notice the lack. When you DO need it, you need it right now.

Have a great Friday and weekend Nostriches 💜

Agreed.

I believe I’ve been various flavours of shadow-banned over the years but never lost the keys entirely. That said, I don’t even want to post super contentious stuff; just the knowledge my account could be axed at any time for the cancellation-list-du-jour makes investing any real time contributing unappealing. Nostr is a huge step forward.

That's a great point. Without the fear of getting your online identity nuked, you are no longer incentivised to self-censor.

That encourages honest dialogue and forces people to deal with trolls appropriately instead of having daddy Elon (or whoever) 'protect' them from the mean words.
