I dream of a onboarding experience to NOSTR where newbies don't see any posts about Bitcoin.
My wish is that the only way people learn about Bitcoin is a "weird lightning button" under the posts.

why not the opposite?
They will value Nostr more if they get Bitcoin first.
If they understand Bitcoin first, they will understand/value the decentralized nature of Nostr more, because they will understand that governments and centralized platforms might not have their best interests in mind.
They will never value a solution to a problem they don't know they have

In my opinion one can value decentralisation, peer2peer and signal-over-noise without the need to understand money/bitcoin.
They will value it more when they realize the other systems were actively working against them and lying to them.
That's how I see it.
I've felt the pain they can produce and that's why I appreciate Bitcoin and Nostr a lot more.
It's literally helping people regain their freedom.
NOSTR and BTC adoption happens when we can explain the benefits without the need to explain the old, broken FIAT world.
I am still trying myself out to find good explanations, its not smooth yet.
That's the thing: you're trying to explain solutions, not benefits..
Idk, 4 years of hardly getting people into Bitcoin or Nostr has me a bit disappointed in people I guess..

Mostly people who come here come because of bitcoin. Thats how you discover nostr. But yeah bitcoin shouldnt be the main subject as some freakish cult. It should be one of the stuff that just makes this place great... unfortunately... everyone keeps bitching about sats and how much each sat that it just looks ridiculous π π π
Bitcoin is just money, it's a medium, nothing more.
For me i see everything as a fiat lock.
Of its somewhat stable and doesnt have a collapse visible soon i lock my income in it. I invest in small stuff as watches, gold, bitcoin. Im not a bitcoin fanatic but you never know. Im tech loving person so I wish one day it will all be crypto... but my life isnt going to be that much longer so I have to think about now how to safely ensure my end days will be chilled. π€£β¨οΈ I dont have kids so watching to retire by buying some sweet island somewhere to die on. π€£ππβ¨οΈ
Why do you need to buy the island, there is many islands to die on without the need to own them ;-)
Also, what makes you think that your life isn't going to be that much longer?
I have a plan for that island after my death. Thats why. π«£π₯³β¨οΈ I want to build a sanctuary ... its all in my head. When I leave this planet I want to leave some kind of legacy to help others. My existence may be selfish but my death will be not... I also want to buy my old family house back amd turn it into an orphanage.... I have plans... I just dont talk much about them... I am now in a process of envisioning it and manifesting the way to it... I still have time... I aint that old... π₯³β¨οΈ
What if by living a "selfish" life you leave a legacy behind? :-)

i guess the point i wanted to make is:
eventually all sanctuaries, temples, stories and ideas fade away.
so we can also just be a sanctuary/story right now in this moment β€οΈ
Oh believe me my life is one of a hell interesting story... I may sit down and write a book... its still happening as we speak and its still fun AF... specially my expenses they are the most fun part of it atm. π€£π€£π€£π€£π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³β¨οΈβ¨οΈβ¨οΈβ¨οΈ

It is insanely embarrassing for nostr how there are no lightning-free, crypto-free clients (and even more embarrassing that almost none are even just lightning-free)
I see zaps as an integral part of communication, we humans want to give feedback.
For sure there are and will be clients which block topics (today already you can mute certain words). I didnβt mean it that way, more like: promote more other topics/follower lists.
Atm onboarding looks like this: you like bitcoin right? RIGHT??
Lightning is embarrassing and having no lightning-free crypto-free clients is embarrassing, there's no other way to slice it
You show nostr to someone, you embarrass nostr because it's an embarrassing thing when it shows itself

If you use bluesky mastodon or threads you can also log in with those profiles, all on the same app, you can look at the feeds individually or have them mixed together.
And when you upload media or post a note you can upload once to all 4 of them.
Hmm, I hate that app because it seems to prefer Bluesky where I'm banned over nostr, but maybe I should stop hating it and recommend it for people that are put off nostr by the crypto stuff
There's also some monero clients that I'm pretty sure don't have lightning but I haven't used any of them
