I used Muun. I funded it On-chain, then just followed the prompts after tapping the Zap icon.

Damn, yeah sounds like something odd with Muun lightning routing. They couldn't find a path, even though it should be very easy after they open the channel to you in the background.

Sorry about that. Muun has had a lot of issues in that regard. For non-custodial I've moved to Phoenix recently and I use Wallet of Satoshi or getalby.com for a quick LN Address (custodial) to receive zaps, then I withdraw to Phoenix after its like 50k sats or more. Their LSP (Phoenix) has had much better operation than Muun, imo.

Sorry this was your first experience, that's a crappy thing to have to find out on your first use 😅

If you check out one of the two options above though, then add your address (say AlchemistUSN@getalby.com or whatever) to your profile and I'll zap to cover the various fees for your learning experience 😁

I agree that self-custody is important, but this type of risk management is really all it takes to prevent a disaster.

Having sats in a custodial wallet is the equivalent of walking around with dollar bills. A risk that most people are willing to take, but only to a certain extent.

Keep the amount low, and withdraw if you expect that you won't be sending more any time soon.
