Smaller cities always get me with this general politeness. In a shop or on a bus, it doesn't matter. You get in, you say hello, you get out, you're thanked and wished a good day, and you do the same. It's nice to remember once in a while that we're civilised.
Do you know that feeling when you're walking through a small village and everyone politely greets you?
