You can't make this up.

There's a TV show on British netflix about knife crime in the Yookay, it's funded by the government. All the newspapers and radio shows are talking about it. I've yet to meet one person who has watched it. Even turbo normies. It's being discussed in parliament along side internet censorship.

Is there anyone in the US who has heard of this? It's called Adolescence. Or is has the propaganda not travelled out of the Yookay?

This is avatar of UK knife crime lolol:

This is the writer lololololol

Oh they know

Turbo normies 🤣🤣🤣🤌🏾

First I hear of this propaganda show

I wonder if they would even dare market this outside the UK for fear of ridicule.

Discussing it in parliament is crazy. It’s a show 🙄

Well they funded it lolol

So the propaganda isn’t working?

It sort of doesn't need to work, that would be ideal, it unnecessary. The legislations will go through either way. I imagine. They just need to pretend that it's a public-imspired conversation, despite seemingly no one having watched it

I remember seeing an article about Idris Elba saying the tips of knives should be dulled to prevent knife crimes. Is this related to the legislations somehow? So stupid

I'm not even sure if that went ahead. But it's sort of adjacent to it. This seems to be more about internet access to things like redpill/andrew Tate type stuff, but general knife crime is also rolled into it.

I mean I do think we should imprison Andrew Tate for being a twat and having an annoying face and voice. I would back a propaganda film about that tbh

He is a twat 😂

We should just be able to swap an Andrew Tate prison sentence for them to leave us alone online lol.

I'd be very happy with that

🤣🤣

Same. It’s a fair deal.

Have him do some outreach in prison about knife violence

Let's be fair to twats, he's a retarded cunt.

Yes. Agreed 🤭

😢 I like him as an actor 😢

Great actor. He should stfu about politics 🤭

They all should. Let me just enjoy the art.

Totally agree. Luther was amazing

👍

Now show me the actual knife crime perpetrator photo.....😉

It's like if the Keir Starmer directed We Need To Talk About Kevin

I watched the first episode of this and then read about the other episodes and their general meaning/breakdown. Seems it’s not really about knife crime but the development of misogyny in young boys.

Yeah it is Andrew Tate-y stuff, but the conversation is a bit wider about general knife crime

It was a tiresome watch. The only thing I liked was the pseudo one-take of the filming. The angle to me was very much adolescent boy making sense of “love”, how father may have imprinted on him a short temper, social media mocking/bullying, rejection and reaction (knife attack).

Is it as bad as it looks? Not sure I can bring myself to watch it.

Sadly they will never admit it's just blowback to 40 years of a culture of feminist dogma that has blamed "traditional masculinity” and a masculine sense of entitlement as the root cause of men’s mental health problems, not structural factors such as misguided family laws and policies and mean-spirited cultural responses to men-at-risk.

Just more of the same, blame the boys.

The writers sited a few cases of the real events which it is losely based off, the focus being blaming Andrew Tate-types

(Who I'm not defending) But it is an orchestrated moral panic which doesn't really seem reflective of the real crimes.

Like this one:

When the politicians latch on to a programme or film, it certainly becomes a moral panic. The post office debacle is another example - took a television production to raise more awareness and for actual political action to happen. Sad. Personally, I also blame elements of social media for the breakdown of society especially with how it affects children and young adults. I could be biased but childhood definitely felt more innocent and wholesome before the advent of the internet and social media - a desire to be noticed and to become famous etc just seems to have escalated.

Slightly different cos it was funded by the culture dept of the government itself I believe lol.

As with all these things it's always 'lets think for the kids' which is obviously reasonable. But that seems to never be how these laws are applied or their intentions to begin with.

But I agree I think social media was mostly a mistake, not fit for even adult humans lol

Yeah that’s terrible to be funded like that. Much bias. It’s basically propaganda. Same with the bias in all media outlets. And agree with you that many new legislations rely on manufactured consensus to push them through. That’s happened throughout human history. Social media is a weird one for me. I can see the positives but it’s also gone berserk. I could list the negatives I’ve seen (have worked with children / parents / schools in the past) but the list would be incredibly long.

First episode was intense havent watched the rest yet

To be fair i had no clue about any of this i just went

Oh nee shiny

I'm amazed they put this on outside the UK. 👀

Yeah they sorted out that he did stab the girl right in the first episode - the rest of the episodes is how he got there.

I didn't even know netflix did down voting lol

"turbo normie" is hilarious

The series "Adolescence" is in the top 1 for the third week in Argentina. So here in my country, besides normalizing violence, it's a reality. It's up to us to set limits for minors, but not to go to extremes. Although it's a very well-scripted series, the actors, actresses, everything was very detailed and very well done. I couldn't tell you if the United States knows a little more about the series. But if you're English, congratulations on a well-made series. Greetings from Argentina.

Shoe on head?

Hi 7fqx nice to meet you 😉🤝

Ah, the perfect blend of government-funded drama and ‘important’ issues. It’s like they’re trying to make a real-life Black Mirror episode. Sure, no one’s watching it, but the discussions are everywhere—parliament, media, even the ‘normies’ are talking about it! Maybe it’s just too cutting-edge for the average viewer?

This reminds me of Derek Ross saying "hashtags only work on paper" after hyping mastodon bridges and gaslighting and muting me for talking about how users need filters for hashtags
