why would you want the US govt to hold 4m BTC?
It makes no sense. I want them to go away and be LESS powerful.
If they get into bitcoin they will dk *whatever they can to leverage their capture of legacy finance to exert pressure on the bitcoin network.

I am anti state philosophically, however wanting the state to go away doesn't make it go away. The state would hold less power over me if I am no longer persecuted for using ₿
The state already has captured legacy finance and is pressuring the network in ways we don't prefer. RFK policy gives us far more power than without it.
₿ tends to change people and organizations because of the incentives, the same may be true for governments.

We don't get to invite or not invite any entity into the bitcoin network. We can only have better or worse positions to fight from.
Well we sure as hell don't have to support candidates who promote policies DIRECTLY against our best interests.
It is obviously not in our best interest for the US Federal govt to get involved in bitcoin.
Would I prefer the government to simply concede everything and go away, yes.
Would I accept not being criminalized in exchange for the government overtly joining an open network that they already hold 200,000 coins on, yes.
It is important to recognize that the policy explicitly intends to protect the individual from the state's current war on us.
Do I trust them, no.
Does it give us a better position to fight from¸ yes.
They can criminalize us and buy 4 million coins anyway.

The right to self custody, run nodes and privately transact without taxtion is the foundation of this particular policy.
Have you historically trusted the government? If not, then why would you trust them now?
No. Never. This isn't about trust. This is about not turning your nose up at a massive state concession without any downside. Pretending we are going to end the state before the state adopts ₿ is foolish.
i'm stoked anyhow, it's gonna pump my bags, for sure, it gives hope of a bigger peak for this cycle, which might mean i actually can buy some land and building materials and hire dudes to build shit and have my dream bunker and sheep farm/dairy in the mountains
and because when people have their first lightning payment experience, it's gonna be big if it happens in large numbers, they will be scrambling to keep this from going viral, it flipped me - my first lightning transaction set me on a new trajectory and i think it will do that for a lot of people, given a little grounding in the economics of money
According to policy your right to own is protected. It is the basis of the policy. Read the policy before strawmanning it.
