Introducing filter.nostr.wine from your favorite paid relay winos🍷. This is currently only available to members of the https://nostr.wine paid relay.
The purpose of this relay is to supplement users who want to use only paid relays with public relay data that is relevant to them or people close to them. In addition, the relay provides full coverage for profiles, note replies, and DMs outside of your paid relay network from our own public relay aggregator.
This relay also supports the option to broadcast (set to false by default) your events to the following public relays:
relay.damus.io
nos.lol
relay.current.fyi
relay.snort.social
brb.io (will be added when stable)
To use the relay with broadcasting add wss://filter.nostr.wine/YOUR_NPUB?broadcast=true to your relay list. Be aware that some clients will strip this out and not work with this relay. Only paid nostr.wine member pubkeys will be accepted.
Now you can have all the reach of the largest public relays, full coverage of notes, profiles, and DMs without all the spam!

So I did this, and it cleaned up my feed really nice. However, I’m down to under half my follower count, and a bunch of accounts I follow no longer have avatars. Anything you recommend to do about this?
Follower count isn’t meaningful as long as you’re still broadcasting to the relays you were before you’ll have the same reach.
As for profile metadata, does it load when you click on the profile? I’d say 90-95% are loading for me, well outside my paid relay reach.
We don’t have perfect coverage of all profile metadata because many people have not updated their profiles in a long time and so it hasn’t been saved to our aggregator.
Going to have to play around with this a bit more to see what works best. Might have to add one or two public relays back for trial and error.
I’m surprised you have that many not loading after clicking profiles. Perhaps your network is a lot wider than mine and they aren’t on the main relays?

Hmmmm very weird. I’ll try loading this using only the filter.
I just loaded this profile from Katie’s account using ONLY the filter relay. Something is wrong with your connection. Try deleting it and re-adding.
