Question for Graphine users. It looks like to use a second sim in your phone you need to have the sandboxed google play installed. Im assuming there is no way around that?

Basicly I need a second phone for business. I'm debating installing graphene on my old phone instead of installing the Google Play services on my daily driver.

🤷‍♂️ sorry, haven't tried a second SIM yet

Im guessing it was easyer on calyx because their modified gapps pack is already installed

Hi the above answers are correct that sandboxed Play Services are required for the install and management of the eSIM but not necessary post install as eSIM are also persistent if installed on stock prior to flashing GrapheneOS.

This must all take place in the owner or default user too not from a secondary user.

Also as you've mentioned other OSes run and use Google Services as privileged system apps with or without user consent.

GrapheneOS is a no Google by default.

That is genuinely why I appreciate graphine. Thanks. Ill get my eSIM and nuke google servies after i get it working. 🤙

Well I have read it's necessary to activate Play Services just for the registration of your new eSIM and afterwards you can deinstall it. You just have to reinstall it again for changing you eSIM. I hope the informations were legit.

Mmmmm. Ok gonna test this. Thanks.

I'm under the impression once set up you can delete Google Play services.

I'm reading comments from GrapheneOS users on their forum that you can delete Google Play after eSim activation. Might be worth reacing out to their Matrix channel to double check.
