Any urban farmers or container gardeners on nostr? I got my sweet potatoes and pepper plant planted today. The squirrels wiped me out last year so hoping to have better results this year.

Not in an urban environment, however the greenhouse is rocking the early starts. Growing your own food is a very satisfying feeling.

I’ll be starting my seeds next week. Probably go with spinach, lettuce, and green beans for the first round

Heck yeah 🤙

I haven’t decided on a leafy green yet. I really want to try broccoli but have never done it

I did broccoli last year and turned out okay. Took longer than I expected

Did you get enough yield to make it worth it?

Not really, but it was a learning year for me, lol. I had 2 plants and it seemed to take until mid summer for them to produce anything. Once they got going it was good, but never too much. They take up some space, and I planted in the ground direct. I have tried in pots before and never had any luck.

Herb, citrus & banana gardener here.

I agree the rats and squirrels were jerks last year, methodically stripped the pepper plants of every leaf except the spicier plants. Mint oil helped and letting dogs cruise the garden. Trying cats, dogs, and fencing this time. I wish you all an abundant garden this year of healthy foods. :)

I picked up fox urine. Going to give it a try
