it shakes their world and fills them with anxiety that they may be wrong. if they accept or receive new information they have to re evaluate other wsys of thought and action also. thats entirely too much work for the average person. easier to just stay in old ways of ignoramce.

Not all do. People learn in various speeds & ways. That isn’t always how they are taught & that can cause issues.
