It would be a damned shame if, weeks after the EU attempts to criminalize Bitcoin, it tripled in price and drew in tens of millions of new people

Really too bad. So sad.
Would be an utter disaster.

I hate the EU and ECP so much it's unreal
Just curious do you also hate EU for forcing Microsoft allowing other options than IE, for forcing Apple allow fixing iPhones at home, making Apple allow custom appstores and even more evil regulations outside of software I’m not so aware of?
I'm a big supporter of free and open source software because companies like Apple and Microsoft have anti-consumer business practices like the ones you mentioned. While these specific regulations are better for the consumer, the act of a government regulating specific actions of a business also has the unintended consequence of entrenching existing businesses by making the compliance cost too high for an upstart to ever get off the ground.
Most of the regulations that "protect" us from financial institutions are also what lock us into a system that both the banks and governments are happy with, despite it being exploitative to the people forced to interact with it.
The thing is IMO that regulations are not evil per se, they can unfold for better or for worse, but they are still needed because society still doesnt have better ways of organization than having govts of different shapes
Also regulations a lot of time are just ways to protect from high impact of unknowns. Bitcoin is a huge unknown even for “bitcoiners” which are suuuper minority, what can we even say of normies
But I still believe humanity will find right balance in terms of regulations and progress and those who are more aware of the domain area should not fight but help others find ways IMO
A true travesty it would be 😈
