I need an algorithm on my client or somewhere to curate the posts I would care most about. I can't possibly see all 800 of my follows' posts each day and I know I am missing out on gems.

You know, you open Pandora's box with this, right?
I'm not asking for relays to do it. I want my client to do it.
Still ... that client's going to be very popular soon.
What client do you use?
Different ones but Amethyst is my favorite
In The client I use Nostur there is a “Hot” tab where I can see notes that have been shared, liked, zapped a lot. I’m not sure what the exact algorithm is but it sounds close to what you would be looking for, does Amethyst have something like that? Alternatively you can probably make a distinct follow list with a feed of a selected set of who you follow if there are a few people you never want to miss. I set that up in Nostur as well. So I can look first at my “favorites feed” then what is “Hot” then at the feed of all of my follows.
Currently I depend on reposts from other users as well as accounts that repost their own stuff on occasion. I like that better than the algos.
There could be a good algo out there but I haven’t found it yet. No matter what you’re gonna miss good stuff.
Right but some of my favorite follows are not in my timezone and reposts tend to be clustered in time around the initial post. So I miss the reposts too. It's hard to go back and start scrolling from 12+ hours ago.
Im amethyst sometimes i shut off all but one relay and scroll each one to see accounts ive missed
Yep, I was just thinking about that yesterday. Would be nice to have open source, customizable algorithm plugins for clients..🤔
