I think the kindle is the best device for reading!

I usually read on my iPad, been eyeing a dedicated reader for some time.
Kindle is the best imo, but I don’t like that it’s a walled garden.
I found Kobo which seems like a good alternative … basically the same but you can use files other than those allowed by Amazon …
Oh yes, I used to read on iPad but I don’t have it anymore. That’s why I was looking for options. I haven’t heard from Kobo. Do you have a reference page?

Yeah I had a azus tablet from Verizon for years that finally crapped out. I didn't want just a dedicated reader, because I don't read for hours I like to do other things when I want to take a break from reading. I really enjoy it at night when I can blackout the background so I don't bother my wife when she's sleeping.
I just purchased a new kindle. If you are going to just use it for books and maybe some light social media then the Amazon fire is good. Biggest downside is the proprietary apps that you have to use. I was looking at the option of the new Kindle Paper white and I think it’s a good option, I see that you can upload books from other sources also even from Apple Books. I just want to read books or pdf. How did yours turn out?
