It’s tricky for me… on the one hand I want to be open minded enough to recognize new innovations that have merit like Nostr.

On the other hand, there are so many scams and shitcoins (purposeful or not).

I need more hands…

I’m wary of shitcoins as well:) #cashu is different. Early, but different.

I just zapped your post with #cashu eCash 🥜⚡️

The difference with cashu is that the tokens are just an abstraction of satoshis that were deposited on whatever mint issued them. They’re redeemable for LN satoshis on the mint that created them or you can transfer them from mint to mint via LN. You don’t mint Cashu tokens for hodling; you mint them to transact with better privacy than on-chain or even Lightning.

The key with Cashu is that you need to trust the mint(s) you use, and/or create your own mint, the easiest way being to install the Cashu extension on LNBits.

This is a great description.

I find it too complicated, nutstash, mints, etc. I shouldn't have to think so hard about ⚡ and micro payments.

I’ve been working on an on-boarding process that only takes a few minutes to get started, but yes, there is much to digest in what is actually happening and how it works.

User experience will get better with time.

I'd be interested in listening to a nests about cashu đź’Ż

Cashu is very interesting! Still requires a higher level of trust, just like Wallet of Satoshi. I try to keep too many sats on either just in case.

Trusting the mint is a big part of #cashu, yes.

I'm interested

Awesome!

Cashu FTW!

I think you mentioned being able to pay lightning invoices from nutstash’s Mint tab. Is that right? I haven’t found how to do that yet.

No. You can create a lightning invoice from the mint tab. That’s a little confusing compared to cashu.me that has send and receive lightning on the main page of the wallet. Nutstash only has the “pay” option for lightning on the home screen of the wallet.

🤣 how did I not see that pay option before. And the request mint makes sense now too. Thanks!

I felt the same way when I found it.
