They share genetic traits with their pre-Columbian ancestors and are among the closest living relatives of ancient canines that roamed the earth thousands of years ago. These dogs held deep spiritual significance, often believed to guide souls to the afterlife.

Xolos exist in both hairless and coated varieties and are admired for their intelligence, loyalty, and distinct appearance. Today, they are recognized as Mexico’s national dog, symbolizing cultural heritage and tradition.
