I was already a proof of work over proof of stake guy from arguments brought up by people like eric voskuil, but that podcast articulated it from a few new angles I hadn't considered, so it just further cemented PoW as the way to go in my mind. Work shares just sounds like a strict improvement/easy win like you said.
