Haft Sin (هفت‌سین) is a traditional table setting for Nowruz, the Persian New Year. It consists of seven symbolic items that begin with the Persian letter "س" (Sin). Each item represents a different aspect of life and renewal.

1. Sabzeh (سبزه) – Sprouted wheat, barley, or lentils grown in a dish.

Symbolizes rebirth, growth, and renewal of nature.

2. Samanu (سمنو) – A sweet pudding made from wheat germ.

Represents power, strength, and the sweetness of life.

3. Senjed (سنجد) – Dried oleaster fruit (a type of wild olive).

Symbolizes love and wisdom.

4. Seer (سیر) – Garlic.

Represents protection against evil and good health.

5. Seeb (سیب) – Apple.

Symbolizes beauty and good health.

6. Somāq (سماق) – Sumac, a reddish spice.

Represents the sunrise and the victory of light over darkness.

7. Serkeh (سرکه) – Vinegar.

Symbolizes patience, wisdom, and the passage of time.

In addition to these seven, many people add other symbolic items, such as a mirror (for reflection), candles (for light and happiness), painted eggs (for fertility), a goldfish (for life and progress), and a book of poetry or a holy book (for wisdom).
