I was getting curious to give meshtastic a try. Basically just to experiment with it. I see that in my region there are no other nodes. Now i wonder if it makes sense to get into it anyway?

Its a fun hobby, and it is getting better all the time. You should be the first node in your area, might encourage more.
Just start tinker with it, buy / build 2 devices and once your learned about it put them away in case of emergency and once in a while update them to see what’s new or maybe build a small network in your location. It’s a lot of fun
