Nostr Web Client

The biggest problem with Nostr is that it's not easy.

Personally, I had a hard time understanding how things work here.

I have adapted with inserting images, with writing all the notes externally on deepl and then pasting them here, with translating every single DM for fear of misinterpreting any request on my paintings.

I knew bitcoin before Nostr, but here I had to do a crash course to learn it better and all by myself.

In short, a huge effort for a stubborn Italian like me.

My biggest defeat about Nostr?

My wife doesn't want to know about Nostr, but she patiently puts up with all the updates I give her about what's going on here.

No guys, I'm sorry.

Nostr will never take off unless it gets easier.

Thanks for the feedback! When you say ‘get easier’, are you referring to on-boarding, daily use, other? Would love more detail there and coming from someone who was like your wife, who ‘doesn’t want to hear about this’… I get it! Does she use any social media?

with Amethyst's automatic translator I didn't understand the meaning of your questions, I had to copy and paste to deepl to understand better.

Also this you read I am having it translated from Italian to English always in deepl otherwise you would not understand anything.

Can you see my wife, who frequents Instagram, Twitter and Facebook anyway, doing this?

In daily use I am used to doing this, but I noticed that nostr:npub1gkgrsna9wxs5ggf5p5meu7jcjegs8vgyenp9a5dfkscfna5nrajqtrfmrz the only friend I brought here, still couldn't zap because of the limits Apple imposed on Damus and I wasn't able to help him because I use Amethyst.

I set up Walletofsatoshi for him, but for Alby it is another matter again.

Does this seem simple to you?

Got ya, so to summarize: improved translations, and yes agreed the zapping and wallets, etc can be confusing. All of this will be worked on in time. Thanks again for your feedback!

It's already taken off in my opinion 😎 it's like I'm getting to use social media for the first time (cause those big platforms were just too lame and scary, and couldn't relate or justify posting anything on them).

I agree, but understand that Nostr is a protocol under construction, after that we have clients who are also not easy, to be honest, I think we are doing really well, we don't have big companies telling us how to do it, the majority here are builders technicians, so yes, it will take a while until it becomes easier for everyone, enjoy the ride, every day a little better.

I really like Nostr and it made me learn many things. But I also understand that not everyone like me is willing to learn to stay on a social network.

http was difficult until NCSA built Mosaic

nostr is hard because it’s a protocol, just like http.

Most people don’t understand the advantage of holding your own keys versus creating a password on somebody else’s platform.

Things will get easier, key management will be automated. For some they may wish a trusted third party to handle their keys. While not in the ethos of self sovereignty, if it works for sone, so be it.

Chrome is a world away from Mosaic, but is still the direct descendant of it.
