the 🔔 tab in twitter was more or less designed to get people to come back to the app. purely self-serving.

before that we had a “mentions” tab, which served as a place to gather conversations and replies. an inbox for you, of sort.

i prefer the latter. Good to see some clients (like gossip) go back to this.

build what you want! not what the current mainstream apps dictate.
