I'm all in for encryption, but in this case: Why? A lot of other nodes hold the same data, it's no secret.

Good question and Iām now wondering the same
In countries where running a node is illegal it could make sense. But even then, when you have a Raspi there with a node software running... Not sure if an encrypted drive helps to talk you out of the situation.

Because if you tell someone that you run a lightning node, and they're a smart thief, they could break in when you weren't home and steal your node. As soon as they powered it back up they would have full access to your precious sats.
