I haven't, we had two gas stoves when we had pigs.

I'm guessing there's some folks doing it w/ wood. after all, it wasn't that long ago it was the only way. ;)

Definitely, just don't want to burn it. Usually I do the slow cooker, how did you do it on the regular stove? Just a stock pot and low heat?

yes. we had a few big stockpots & a few smaller ones, we'd have all 9 burners going. same with maple season. :)

if you know your wood stove's "hotspots" and can keep the temp relatively consistent. should be doable.

I would make a raised insert with a wider footprint to allow heat to spread more and use something with a thicker bottom? I only use cast iron and my magnalites for everything. What's your stove layout?

Second the suggestion to use a cast iron trivet and cast iron pot. As long as the heat is evenly dispersed, you should be fine.
