It's sort of funny, when you grow up #catholic, to find out how many Catholic things aren't common knowledge.

We are so many, that I never realised what a protected little bubble I reside in.

Yes

Like what, for example?

Yeah, that reminded me of what happened on my last business trip.

I ordered something vegan at the dinner on Friday and someone was like, "Oh are you vegan?"

"No, it's just Friday and I'm tired of eating fish."

"Well, then order a steak or something."

I've also noticed some more subtle things. Like, Catholic men tend to let women just say whatever and aren't as strict about clothing, (outside of Mass) without getting upset or acting threatened, but they're stricter about what they allow women to actively do or where to go.

So, they seem permissive to non-Catholic men, but you can see Catholic womens' lesser freedoms in statistics.

Really. I'm in my 50s, Church of England but went to a Grammar school (not Catholic but ran by catholics). I don't see what you describe. Of course I'm not in your church, rarely in mine these days, though!

The mild have mostly left the Church. Going to Mass every Sunday says something about a person, now.

Also frightening how many of ‘us’ know nothing of them.

I remember being quite angry around 19-20 when the internet made it easy to see how much of our history had been memory-holed.

You look good !

And the reconciliations are the worst, a bunch of the 10 commandments are not even the original ones but political stuff.
