so i connected to my local instance of nostrudel on start9 over tor.
I removed all relays and connected only to my start9 local instance of nostr-rs relay.
I can still see notes from plebs that are not connected to my relay.
How is this possible? is it because im logged in on other devices that are copying the notes from other relays and then writing it to my tor relay?
I was wondering the exact same thing. Just tried this today and noticed the same.
i am seeing multiple categories for relays, this makes thing a little confusing.
there seems to be overlap....?

another thing, if i paste an image into a new note over the demo web instance, it automatically hosts the image on nostr.build.
But when I try to do the same with my own instance connected only to my own relay, it says "failed to fetch"
I was not connected to my nostr-rs personal relay in any other apps though. Still can't connect to my nostr-rs relay in Amethyst with Orbit enabled.
Im having the same issue with the Bitcoin wallets that claim to connect to your own node over tor. BlueWallet, Blockstream Green and electrum. Even though I had it setup the way i think was correct with orbot, it did not work.
Zeus wallet works, but no hardware wallet xpub support.
Just need a watch only app that can connect to my own node over tor. oh well.
For nostrudel, the connection is fine, tomorrow my managed switch arrives, so ill put the relay behind a VPN and let anyone who wants to connect to it.
But it would still be nice to have all these unknowns answered one day!
I’ve gotten them to connect over tor but slow as all get out to update. Try Tailscale and VPN into your node instead. I switched and it is much better and faster
