It should only upload what you choose.
How did you add the image, with the website and a copied link, or an app?
Which app did you use?
Is it possible you selected a different image by accident? Or the app did? A lot of the apps (Damus and Iris) give you a preview before posting, did you see that?
I uploaded it through Damus from the screenshots on my phone. When I look back through the photos on my phone the photo that uploaded doesn’t exist anymore because I cropped it. Although, iPhones do give you the option to “revert” a picture to undo all the changes you made, so I guess the original version still exists somewhere.
Thinking it must have been how apple served the image that you chose, served the original? I will test

Originally, I put the photo in my favorites album (by highlighting the heart on that pic) to make sure I uploaded the correct photo. That seems to be what messed it up. Now if I try to go upload the photo from my favorites it won’t upload at all. When I just upload it from my recents album it works perfectly.
