What is a good messenger application that doesn’t require email and/or phone number? I know nostr has DMs. But looking for more of a group oriented chat. Comparable to like discord or telegram.

SimpleX does not require a phone number and is ok for small group chats.

Wow that one looks cool. Why have I not heard of simpleX before? Does it not work all that well when you start getting into higher amounts of people in your chats?
